Note...............................
Definition........................ A measure of file size and storage capacity referring to, depending on context, between 1,000,000,000,000 and 1,099,511,627,776, 8-bit data units or characters.
Additional Info............... Most software, memory chips, and systems consider a kilobyte to be 1,024 bytes (the binary quantity of 2 to the 10th power), a megabyte to be 1,024 such kilobytes, a gigabyte to be 1,024 such megabytes, and terabyte to be 1,024 such gigabytes or 1,099,511,627,776 bytes. However, some key standards groups state that 1,000 (10 to the 3rd power) bytes comprise a kilobyte, a megabyte is 1,000 kilobytes, a gigabyte is 1,000 megabytes or one billion bytes, and a terabyte is one trillion (10 to the 12th power) bytes. And many data storage manufacturers use this measurement to define their device sizes, meaning a computer May show less storage capacity on a drive than the drive's specified size suggests.
