Additional Info............... |
Most software, memory chips and systems consider a kilobyte to be 1,024 (the binary quantity of 2 to the 10th power) bytes, a megabyte to be 1,024 such kilobytes, and a gigabyte to be 1,024 such megabytes or 1,073,741,824 bytes. However, some key standards groups state that 1,000 (10 to the 3rd power) bytes comprise a kilobyte, a megabyte is 1,000 kilobytes, and a gigabyte is 1,000 megabytes or one billion (10 to the 9th power) bytes. And many data storage manufacturers use this measurement to define their device sizes, meaning a computer May show less storage capacity on a drive than the drive's specified size suggests. |
