Additional Info............... |
Giclée (pronounced "zhee-clay") is french for "squirt" or "spray." giclée appeared about 1989 as a marketing term for plateless reproductions of fine art on art-quality paper. At that time, they were produced with large format ink jet printers designed for making prepress proofs with watercolor inks. Since then, many other types of ink, printers and paper have been used to produce giclée prints, which tend to have vibrant color and fine detail, combined with the texture of the paper or other substrate used. This term, however, offers no firm standard of quality or print longevity. |
